Department of Dravyagunavigyanam is an eminent department in the Govt Ayurveda College, Thiruvananthapuram. Dravyagunavigyanam (Clinical Pharmacology) deals with the Principles, Qualities, Effects and Therapeutic profiles of the drugs in Ayurveda. The subject deals with Clinical Pharmacology of Ayurveda drugs. The supporting areas include Namarupa vijnan (pharmacognosy), Gunakarma vijnan (Pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics), Yoga vijnan (formulary), Kalpana vijnan (Pharmaceutics), Prayogavijnan (pharmacotherapeutics) etc

The Central Council for Indian Medicine, an autonomous body under Government of India has formed regulations for conducting the undergraduate (B.A.M.S) and post graduate [M.D (Ay), M.S (Ay) and PGD]  courses. Dravyagunavijnanam is a speciality in both M.D (Ay) and PGD courses . This department is engaged in disseminating this subject to these courses. This institution is affiliated to KUHS (Kerala University of Health Sciences).
